

Islamabad, 11 June 2026: H.E. Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Ambassador of Vietnam to Pakistan, visited the Pakistan Academy of Letters accompanied by Mr. Pham Hong Quang, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Vietnam, and Mr. Tam Hanh Ngoc Duc. They were received by Prof. Dr. Najeeba Arif, Chairperson of the Pakistan Academy of Letters. Mr. Akhtar Raza Saleemi, Deputy Director (Research and Translation), and Dr. Bibi Ameena, Deputy Director (Academics), were also present on the occasion. At the outset of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Najeeba Arif extended a warm welcome to Mr. Tam Hanh Ngoc Duc on his arrival in Pakistan as the Embassy's new Second Secretary. Subsequently, both sides exchanged views on various aspects of literary and cultural cooperation in the context of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) already signed between the Pakistan Academy of Letters and the Vietnam Writers’ Association. Particular discussion focused on the publication of the Urdu translation of Prison Diary, the renowned work of the great Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, which is being published by the Pakistan Academy of Letters under the framework of the aforementioned MoU. Matters relating to the forthcoming book launch ceremony, including its organizational and other related arrangements, were also discussed. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented a commemorative gift to the Pakistan Academy of Letters as a gesture of goodwill and a symbol of Pakistan–Vietnam friendship. Prof. Dr. Najeeba Arif presented him with a set of publications issued by the Academy. Overall, the meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere and paved the way for further strengthening literary and cultural relations, as well as enhancing mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Vietnam
