

(Islamabad PR) On Thursday, 21 May 2026, a group of 35 students from the BS English Literature program of the International Islamic University Islamabad visited the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad on a study visit under the supervision of Professor Dr. Shiraz Dasti. On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Professor Dr. Najeeba Arif, and Deputy Director Dr. Bibi Amina welcomed the delegation.
The visit commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony marking the completion of 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship and diplomatic relations. Following the ceremony, prayers were offered for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of both countries.
Later, at the Shaikh Ayaz Conference Hall, Chairperson Professor Dr. Najeeba Arif addressed the students and highlighted the objectives, literary services, and ongoing projects of the Pakistan Academy of Letters. She provided a detailed overview of the Academy’s initiatives and programs for the younger generation and emphasized that engagement with literature is an essential need of the modern age, as it plays a fundamental role in developing human consciousness, intellectual growth, and creative abilities.
During the study visit, the students were given a comprehensive tour of the Academy’s various departments. They received a briefing on the Hall of Fame (Aiwan-e-Aizaz) and visited the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Auditorium, Committee Room, portraits of renowned literary figures displayed at the Academy, the Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages, Writers’ House, Ahmed Faraz Library, and the Academy’s Book Shop.
At the Ahmed Faraz Library, Librarian Samina Khan provided detailed information about the ongoing Online Public Access Library Project. The students were also introduced to the Academy’s manuscript digitization initiative and were shown rare manuscripts.
At the conclusion of the visit, the students appreciated the scholarly and literary contributions of the Pakistan Academy of Letters and described the visit as informative, beneficial, and memorable.
